Jim brings more than 22 years of experience with technology management and development to his role as chief technology officer at Iconoculture. From 1998 to 2004, Jim was president of Sabbath Inc., providing a wide range of technology consulting services, including corporate technology strategy development, technical due-diligence reviews, technical intellectual property management and project management. Significant clients included West Group, a Thomson Business, the premier provider of legal information in the U.S. and around the world; Mellon Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of one of the nation's most successful financial services companies; and Sherpa Partners, a venture capital investment group focused on Minnesota-based emerging technology companies. From 1981 to 1998 Jim served in a variety of technology development and executive roles at West Group. As chief technology officer, he was responsible for an annual budget of $150 million and spearheaded the integration of the technology functions at West with the technology functions at Thomson Legal Publishing. Jim led the team that developed WIN, an industry-leading natural-language search engine and the first large-scale implementation of easy-to-use plain-English techniques for querying online databases. Additionally, he moved West’s internal editorial and publishing from paper-based to fully electronic systems, saving millions of dollars and vastly improving product capabilities. Jim received a BA from Hamline University and an MA from Luther Seminary.
